Upholstery and Leather Furniture Repair Technician

OVERVIEW

The Furniture Repair Technician effectively and efficiently completes repair work on defective or damaged products while providing customers with superior service. Drives a company vehicle to customer’s homes to perform repairs and/or assess needed repairs. Works with the warehouse team to prep and repair home furnishing products. Uses their carpentry, upholstery, and color-matching skills to provide the best product to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Able to troubleshoot and repair products quickly
  • Assumes responsibility for the timely and accurate repair of defective or damaged products
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relations with customers by providing them with superior service resulting in customer satisfaction
  • Documents all problem and repair requirements accurately and completely
  • Inspect furniture for damages, defects, or wear and tear
  • Previous hands-on experience will include upholstery repair including structural/mechanism replacement
  • The process of furniture repair requires lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving furniture items to accommodate the repairs as necessary. Accordingly, the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs is required
  • Repair furniture using appropriate tools, materials, and techniques to original vendor specifications
  • Upholster furniture using fabrics, padding, and stitching, replace mechanisms, and troubleshoot electronics (motors, switches, etc.)
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Ability to match colors and textures
  • Perform leather repairs using patches, dyes, or fillers
  • Ability to do case good repairs a plus
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow quality standards and procedures
  • Communicate with customers and store staff regarding repair status and issues
  • Sensitive to customers’ needs with a positive, customer-oriented attitude
  • Ensures that the appropriate team member is informed of any item that cannot be repaired
  • Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Keeping the vehicle and workspace in homes and warehouses clean and free of all safety hazards
  • Arrives to work according to schedule timely and consistently

  • Valid Driver’s License – Safely drive a company-owned service van

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk, stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use and/or control tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear, and see up close, in color, depth and distance vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Job functions may take place in a warehouse, customer’s homes, and showrooms with possible exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, or other environmental elements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
